A MAN who repeatedly sexually abused a woman has been jailed for four and a half years.
Neil Lawrence, aged 62, denied a series of sexual assault charges, voyeurism and threatening to disclose private sexual photographs in relation to offences carried out in a South Gloucestershire village in 2023.
He claimed the incidents had all been consensual but a jury found him guilty on all counts in May.
Lawrence, who later moved to Poole in Dorset, pleaded guilty to separate charges of indecently assaulting a 12-year-old child in 1987.
As he was sentenced at Bristol Crown Court in July, a statement from his South Gloucestershire victim was read to the judge.
She said: “I’m angry that he was able to do these things to me.
“It upsets me that I can’t even give a hug to my kids. They had to ask my permission beforehand.
“I don’t want anyone to touch me; it makes me feel filthy and not me.”
Lawrence was also made subject to an indefinite restraining order, and added to the sex offenders’ register.
His earlier victim said Lawrence’s offending “stripped the innocence from my childhood”.
Detective Constables Annabelle Winter and Vikki Doble urged any other victims of Lawrence to come forward.
They said: “The victims have shown such incredible bravery to report this and support the police investigation. We hope that this conviction brings them some closure and the justice they deserve.”
