A COALPIT Heath man has appeared in court accused of burgling homes to steal car keys.
Deniz Dikmen, aged 20, appeared at Bristol Magistrates’ Court on Friday, charged with four counts of burglary and one of possessing criminal property, relating to cash seized by police.
The charges relate to a burglary at a house in Yate, one in Westbury-on-Trym and two in Cam, Gloucestershire, between June and August, in which BMW and Mercedes were taken in order to steal the vehicles.
Dikmen was remanded in custody ahead of a hearing at Bristol Crown Court next month.
‘Ongoing operation’
Avon and Somerset police say the charges against him are part of an “ongoing operation to tackle car-key burglaries” across the force area.
Last month another 20-year-old man, Harley Sheppard, of Broad Croft, Patchway, appeared before Bristol Magistrates’ Court charged with conspiracy to commit burglary in relation to eight offences in Yate, Downend, Almondsbury, Dursley, Nailsworth and Clevedon between April and August.
He was also remanded in custody ahead of a Crown court hearing later this month.
