Driver charged with causing death of Winterbourne cyclist while on drugs

A DRIVER has been charged with causing the death of a cyclist from Winterbourne while under the influence of drugs.

Neil Routley, aged 56, died when a car driven by Daniel Booth collided with his bike in Aust Road, Aust, on June 29 last year.

Booth, 30, from Lydney, is due to appear before Bristol Magistrates’ Court on Monday charged with causing death by dangerous driving, and causing death by driving without due care and attention while over the limit of a controlled drug.

The collision happened on a Sunday afternoon in the village near the Severn Bridge.

Mr Routley died at the scene of the collision, despite the efforts of paramedics.
