A MAN in his 80s died when his bike was hit by a vehicle on a motorway slip-road.
Police were called to junction one of the M32 at Hambrook shortly after 9am today.
A spokesperson said: “Emergency services responded and, despite their efforts, a man in his 80s sadly died.
“His next of kin has been informed and we are offering them support through a specialist family liaison officer.
“Our thoughts are with them during this incredibly difficult time.
“The driver of the vehicle has been supporting us in our enquiries.”
Police said the collision happened on the southbound entry slip-road, where traffic from the roundabout at the junction heads onto the inbound M32.
The entrance to the slip-road is crossed by a light-controlled crossing for cyclists and pedestrians, which operates independently of the other traffic lights on the roundabout.
The crossing is part of the pedestrian and cycle route between Downend and Filton.
The slip-road was closed for around five hours after the incident, as police recovered the vehicle and examined the scene.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision.
Anyone with information should call 101 and quote the incident reference number 5226 045 155.
